The Saboteur™

A Fun & Creative Modern Great

A WWII GTA game with guns/cars/challenging missions and bond style villains with a respectable graphics quality produced with a sort of noir style of colour paette with period music like Jazz etc and pretty phenomenal voice acting by all involved, what you get is a high dose of adult humour and a large dose of adult violence that feels like your like playing a WWII black comedy movie in game format it's a true masterpiece that should definitely be in any collection. My rating 4.5 out of 5 if I could add partial stars

RealRTCW

A Top Notch Total Transformation

If you have the original Return To Castle Wolfenstein this is an absolute must it's truly incredible and has been pain stakingly and lovingly remastered from top to bottom it's all there weaponary/facial models and even gun and music enhancements as well as FX sounds even the cut scene animations are totally remastered, all of this work has made this otherwise dated game re-invigorated and totally transformed from old to pretty much new. I've been getting through some of the levels in the past week and loving it I couldn't play through as it originally was without this mod it just felt a great deal out of date but this Real RTCW mod brings fluid hand models and arm animations for the reload actions none of that clunky polygonic look it's now as smooth as butter the entire game is now in HD and it looks beatiful compartively, you can better relate to the characters in the story to as the reshading and the HD remastering gives the facial features a more beleivable animated/realism and the colour tones are also fabulous as are the building and the set peice models and all of the textures to. It's effectively an entirely brand new game and it kicks and punches hard and fast with the gunplay and the awesome more frantic feeling firefights all providing a more realistic over-tone. It's really great to see this much hard work put into an old game and for it to pay off this well, this is special and you get a survival mode to boot as well as various other options what a mod and wow what a game it is now, it's a true masterpiece of modification and you should get this without even thinking twice about it...this is free and this is totally awesome. If I were able to give half stars scores I'd be giving it a more precise 4.8 out of 5 score because I can't I give it top marks it goes way above and beyond the norm and without question this is a significantly remarkable mod in every way.

EVERSPACE™

Deep Space Dogfighting Collect-A-Thon

Battle waves of enemy ships in deep space whilst collecting consumables and upgrades like weapons/minerals/fuel and more in a bid to stay alive in one long continual run, with beautiful light and colour tones and plenty of derelict ships and mining vessels and places to explore. There's a realistic and honestly portrayed feeling of deep expanse you don't usually get in cockpit style/space games and thanks to the additional rogulite element of item scavenging and re-spawning with a lower point of progression it's enough so that you still advance in the game but with death comes a heavy price to pay, at the same time you can upgrade the ship and the weapons and a lot more, so being prudent is the aim to keep alive throughout, all of this adds a strong level of replayability to keep you always wanting another go around, or makes you want to dig your heels in and stick it out either way works and doesn't get old. But the overall goa for me is to become the best the unbeatable beast and that will take time and experience to achieve which this game as far as space games go actually makes you want to learn to be good at playing it and it's positive qualities help you to not abandon it quickly, this is a rare little gem and is ultra cheap when on sale usually. A major added bonus is the play time the overall game completion length it's a quantum leap beyond most average game lengths let alone a space game and this brings immense value for money as well as having an additional DLC available for extra content which apparently includes new NPC's in that also this too is also cheap when on sale. It's a great space game it's not over zealous not to heavy on resource overheads spec wiseand has a reasonable 9-10gb install size, it looks amazing. It also plays very well with gamepads and it feels fluid and professional through and through, it's a good buy and it doesn't feel sparse or abandonware like most deep space shooters do, and it feels almost like your there in some ways in that deep darkness moving that control stick inaside of that ship on and off it's a great feeling, I'm betting it would be amazing on a hi-res projector as well n 1080p or higher if it does it. My score 4.3 out of 5 if only I could add partial stars

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell®

One Of The Greatest Stealth Games Ever

This game really needs no introduction it's quite litterally a must have stealth game, filled with movie grade plot and nail biting edge of your seat action versus stealth tatics wrapped in a third person control style it's practically a flawless example of the term stealth game and this game has helped spearhead and shape the entire scene since it arrived I give it ridiculously high marks for it's quality of voice acting and for it's incredible control mechanics. It's both creative and exciting as well as a little hard on the difficulty side but this provides a balance of extra challenge and a feeling of I just want to try that one more time, and sin doing so it also provides a high level of replayability, it's an absolute all time top 100 games list contender and if it weren't so difficult to map with controllers using steam input I'd have said 5 stars out 5 not 4 but my actual score if I could leave partial stars would be a strong 4.4 out of 5 If you do use steam input mapping then make sure to set the mouse as analogue stick mode and the sensitivty to near zero level for better controller analogue feel/sensitivity and speed otherwise you'll have a hard time getting the view/look to be responsive.

Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure

An Essential Hidden Gem (do not miss it)

Gurumin is a well crafted game with a light hearted platforming action style akin to a bit of Mario 64 style coupled with something of it's own, you don an ancient drill weapon and collect coins to powerr up, you'll find it somewhat familiar and yet still intriguing with the narrative, and the voice acting makes it fun and cute it's a perfect game not just for kids but for the whole age range. It's a little corny yes on the lines at moments but you are in the shoes a of a young girl so that can be forgiven by adults as it suits the childhood adventure storyline perfectly. I found my self sitting through an hour of playtime in a single sitting and that's unusual for me when I initially struggle with learning anything I am easily off put..but Gurumin has got me wanting to play some more, it's an absolutely amazing little gem of a game and should be in all game libraries as it's an essential game in my own opinion. The creativity and explorative feel of the game is up there with the greats so don't miss this one especially if it's on sale it's a steal at the moment of writing this as it is currently on sale for just £1.69 this is an essential game and N64 fans will love the noticable nods to that N64 era's low poly 64bit graphics style.

Death Track: Resurrection

Action Packed Arcade Racing

Full of chaotic car chasing action it provides a near DeathRace 2008 movie feel which may have been the aim here? But this is not a movie tie in game (they are terrible normally) but it feels a bit like some kind of movie tie in game that isn't half bad for once, in fact it's pretty good and it hit's with a good amount of carnage there's not that much weaponary on the first stage machine guns mines and missiles though it may change /improve on weaponary as you progress through the game but I'm not sure yet really. But this is pretty good fun and pretty fast paced racing with some dodging and weaving both from obstacles and enemies and also including dodging nemy car carcases which can create an extra challenge to zoom past at high speed once you take someone out close in, it's a quite a challenging game to play but yet it's still a simple enough to understand game as t's a casual play style but fast paced speed of travel racing game and shooter combined into one, It will likely be a little of a learning curve to figure out your triggers and firing buttons ast first as there are a few you have to use, but you should relatively quickly adapt to that, it may also seem a little awkward to begin with but it does quickly become second nature as it's kind of trial by fire. Not overly high quality in the graphical department but definitely not low quality either it's reasonably good graphics in fact especially going back to 2009. The steering is actually good to be honest and the controller support is reasonably good to it works with ps3 and xbox 360 as well as some generic PC controllers natively, it detects and allows mapping of gamepads also, I use a Ouya gamepad mimicking an xinput Xbox 360 controller and this is detected fine the in-game mapping also allows you to map all buttons perfectly fine which is quite unusual for this age of gamepad and it's nice to see this as a rare and welcome feature this saves ever needing to map with third party tools and or launchers in most cases. The game overall I'd give 3.9 out of 5 if I could have given half stars but in this case I'll leave it at 4 out of 5 stars it's a good game but by far not a perfect game but at the price it's extremely fair and when on offer prices always seem listed at a steal it's definitely worth the pickup for acrade fans that's for sure it may actually work for arcade machines and give a new experience to it all together, I'm glad I've picked it up for 49p which is an absolute steal during the current sale at the time of writing this.

First Racer

A Low Poly High Value Racing Gem

This has to be one of my favourite GOG games purchased so far I thought I'd have a little go and ended up going all the way through a third of the entire game in one constant sitting, I couldn't resist one more race again and again it's instantly become a favourite of mine now. I have been having such an awesome time with First Racer it echoes elements of Gran Turismo on Playstation 1 with a more modern polygonal aesthetic style and a less serious tone it's more casual but yet somewhat technical at the same time it makes that technical idea part of the fun and not so tedious as some might have seen it in other games. With a reasonably decent soundtrack to which is a bit of a compilation of various styles to be honest (dub step and progressive hybrid styles and so on) which do suit the game actually and there are also a fair number of vehicles you can buy which can all be modded/upgraded. You have all the elements of the vehicle to purchase like engine upgrades/clutch upgrades/brakes and even mass (weight reduction) and a rather considerable amount more than the few I mention there, your also able to mod the look (bodywork/colours and decal stickers) although that's a little sparse on that front it still strongly reminds you of the customization's found in games like Need For Speed Underground 2 in how this is applied and the way it looks. The game it's self feels quite complete and reasonably polished, I would say a high grade of silver standard of polish not quite gold levels but it's good quality for sure and definitely good fun. The controls are quite good and they feel pretty natural, the drift is a little challenging to get used to at first, however you'll enjoy the learning curves to. Upgrades are key to your progression and you have quite a lot to do in a game of such a small cost, it's a bonified hidden gem...yes it may look a little crude in some ways, but it makes up for that in droves by the character it presents with and it all works really well together and I think this should definitely get a sequel or two, I really hope that it does because it deserves it. If I could give incremental scores I would give it a 4.4 out of 5 but as I can't I put it at 4 stars although it is IMHO better than this rating.

The Last Tinker™: City of Colors

Pretty But Locked To Rails Like A Train

A 100% on rails only game locked to a track that's destination is always forced on you that's gives the player the illusion of being an open world gameplay and free choice game when it isn't, it's beatiful though and would be better re-written as a truly player centric controlled and truly open world game, it would absolutely be a huge hit if they did this if not them selves then they should seek to sell the rights to it to someone who will do it as that is where it's at. it could be epic but it's so on rails that it's derailed it's self as it too linear and too force fed with it's character direction throughout, but wow it is some serious eye candy and has massive potential if re-visited.

Dust: An Elysian Tail

Aggresive Action With A Big Hug

Set in a fantasy world filled with different creatures both friend and foe you'll score barrages of hits against waves of tough enemies and face off against big bad wolf style bosses all of the animation is picture perfect and movie level quality it's amazing, the plot is good the context is a little to long-winded during conversations with new friends, but it is all mesmerizingly high barr quality and it packs a serious punch whilst staying relatively family friendly in the process. You'll find it a bit of a drawback to take in the conversations between charactersthroughout as they streatch on for miles, but the game is one hell of a ride when in battle with the hit combos going off the scale numbering into the hundreds if done right, it's like an explosion or a volcanic eruption of fury on your enemies and it's seriously fun. I often dislike this genre of games with a passion, but I'm passionate for this game in it's very different to theaverage genre trends and find it very like-able a definite keeper. It's like beating your enemies to pulp whilst the aesthetics wrap it up in hugs and kisses and make it feel all cute and cuddly on the top, but an aggressive and hungry beast lies beneath the fecade. And it's not all about fighting it's also about how you power up in order to progress with all aspects and that comes in the form of trading and collecting with different characters along the way, this keeps things mixing up all the time rather than the gameplay leveling off...your constantly levelling up. Controller support is excellent with Bluetooth gamepads and that's always welcome to.

Theme Park

Unplayable Due To Persistent Crashes

The DOS Box app crashes with this game all the time it is litterally un-playable in it's current state, once you've added a few rides and elements to the park the entire game force closes (crashes) and kills the progress rendering it un-usable.
