SPRAWL

Gun P Residue Under Painted Fingernails7

I purchased this game a while back and with Sprawl Zero (the prequel to Sprawl) getting announced I decided to play and man I'm glad I did. SolidT's review is 100% accurate. The game has a Half-Life, Fear (haven't played but watched plenty of videos), Doom vibe with a hint of Titanfall with its flow/rhythmic gameplay. This is in my understanding a debut game from MAETH and you may encounter aspects of the game that are alittle rough around the edges. I'm hesitant to call it bugs because its fits the 2000s aesthetic. Speaking of the 2000s, I feel cool as **** wall running, strafing, and falling off stuff popping off shots at the ops like Trinity in the Matrix. There is a cool factor here on par with Doom, but while DOOM is striking a guitar Sprawl is dropping you 4 levels below ground, techno music bumping, and you walk out of the elevator like Blade when he enters the vampire club. One thing to note, if you have watched youtube videos you may see references to the QR Codes throughout the game that you must scan with your phone that will give you the plot of the game. I was under this impression going into the game. This is not the case. When you find these QR codes that part of the story become available to you in the "Codex" section of the menu. Hope this helps.

REPLACED

Some Katana Zero & Inside N this 8 ball!

The game got an update today, moving through Chapter 3 without a hiccup and have died multiple times. ---- I'm digging this game. I'm been dope sick since finishing Katana Zero and was hoping Replaced scratched the itch. It does! This is a 2.5D movie with text dialogue. Visually gorgeous game. The puzzles and platforming are enjoyable, The characters are memorable. There are funny moments. The combat system is serviceable. Don't go into this game expecting to be a Shinobi. Your playing a white dude with an AI stuck in his body. The studio is going for methodical. With that said everything so far in this game has been an action set piece executed to my delight. This game is story driven with references to other videos games and movies. I love that. As for the story you can read the synopsis of the game or better yet play it when your ready to be entertained. Replaced works well on handhelds and with controllers. I find myself using by 8bitdo SN30pro with this. The Cinematic widescreen takes away screen real estate on handhelds. That kind of sucks but still playable and the text is readable. -- As for the negative reviews, these people must have organ donation on their driver's license. The story and they way it unfolds is dope for the medium. People will always find a reason to moan. This game is $19.99...polished. Game breaking bug...I don't want hear that. Fixed on Day 2 of release. Gas prices climbing worldwide. It's games like this that are going to keep the homicide rate down and families intact! -- Just finished the game. Wow! I look forward to more from this studio. I hope this genre of game isn't a one off but becomes a staple of the industry. This game took what was promised in The Last Night and built on games like Katana Zero to make a great game!

Katana ZERO

PURE HEAT

Its 7am. Sleep schedule all f'd up and I just couldn't go to sleep after finishing this game without giving 5 stars. I haven't felt this way about a game since the Xbox 360 era. I would gladly wait in line for a midnight release of the upcoming FREE DLC! Katana Zero hits all of the right notes and I'll leave it at that. Oh by the way, choices matter. The game is finished in my opinion. The story arc is more like Part 1 of a long good ass movie.

Cronos: The New Dawn

Stutter Hill

The stuttering in the game takes away from the gameplay. Throughout the intro I just kept lowering the display settings. Once the intro was over and the brief cinematic cutscene played I realized not only were my settings on low but so were my expectations. During the intro, I'm playing this survival horror game where "every bullet counts"...progressing along. Eventually I get a tip in the UI telling me that "shooting enemies in the legs will knock them over giving you an opportunity to reposition". Ok, cool! Said encounter happens. I take aim for the kneecap...BAM. My charged bullet, 1 of 12, is now lodged in the aluminium frame 3ft to the right of the enemy because the game stuttered. The Pause screen then appears because I got ****** up. There is a game here and I'm going to hold onto it in the hopes that future patches will allow better immersion but in its current state I can't recommend this game. I do have high hopes for the future of this game, the IP, and future games from Bloober. But I need to play something else right now. (3 star review) 45 hour update: This game is pandemic catharsis. There are plenty of tense sweaty palm moments to get the juices flowing. Jump scares are present in the game. "Ohhhhh..Uhhhh and What The **** is that. mmmmmmmmm is in this game. But SUCH IS OUR CALLING. The game is the shizzle. If you listen to Wu Tang Clan in general, Method Man's Tical 2000 in particular and you know a little too much about what's going on in the world then buy it and play it. Bloober has released performance patches that now has the game running smoothly on my machine. Mind you I set graphics to very low at the start of my play through and forgot about it. (4 stars)

MULLET MADJACK

Certified Hood Classic!!!

Man this game. Mmmf! This game! Once you get into the “flow” the gameplay is very addicting. The art style is beautiful 80s/90s anime. They really nailed it. But the backstory taps into that Deus Ex vain in a witty way. I’m having many moments of “Yes…Yes!” during cutscenes. Im thinking of using this game to introduce transhumanism, eugenics, technique, and media studies to the youths out here in the land of the real.
